Richard Poulin Teaches Seniors at the University of the Arts the Best Practices for Presenting Themselves as Graphic Design Professionals Seeking Employment

For the third consecutive year, our Co-founder, Principal, and Design Director, Richard Poulin, traveled to Philadelphia to share very specific wisdom with students at the University of the Arts: how to best get a job. “We spend all this time teaching the tenets of graphic design and visual communications and very little on how to get hired as a designer,” states Richard. This year, his popular Professional Practices Workshops increased from one to two days in response to student feedback. Over those two days, Richard worked with the students on designing and developing an effective and memorable portfolio, creating a personal visual brand, giving clear and compelling presentations, and writing strong resumes and cover letters. A role-playing interview session was included to build confidence as the seniors move into the employment market. “I want to see these talented students placed in positions that best suit their passions and capabilities, and I’m glad to have the opportunity to provide them the tools to achieve that goal.”
