Overlooking the Hudson River, the Conrad New York is a contemporary landmark located in the midst of thriving Lower Manhattan, catering to the area’s growing leisure and business traveler. The 463-suite, 612,400-square-foot, LEED-Gold certified luxury hotel, designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates, is the first Conrad Hotel in New York City, and features a stunning 16-story atrium lobby, views of the waterfront, a rooftop bar, fitness center, conference center, as well as an array of high-end retail shops and restaurants.
As part of this major renovation project, Poulin + Morris designed a comprehensive environmental graphics and wayfinding sign program for the property inspired by the building’s modern context and strong architectural vocabulary. The main exterior identification signs are fabricated in stainless steel—when remotely illuminated, their dramatic, sculptural quality compliments the highly reflective and transparent entrance to the hotel. The interior signs are fabricated primarily in glass and stainless steel, materials used throughout the hotel’s interior architecture.
The project was recognized by Graphic Design USA and Graphis for Design Excellence in Environmental Graphic Design.
