MGM Mirage created CityCenter as the new international destination for entertainment, hospitality, dining, nightlife, retail, art, and design on the Las Vegas strip. Situated on 76 acres, this city-within-a-city transforms the Las Vegas skyline with approximately 2,700 private residences; 2 400-room non- gaming boutique hotels; a 60-story, 4,000-room resort casino; and a 500,000-square-foot retail and entertainment center.

As the ‘front door’ to CityCenter, the Mandarin Oriental Hotel and Residences is a 47-story tower segmented into the Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas, a 400-room luxury hotel and The Residences at Mandarin Oriental, a 227-residence luxury condominium. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates with interiors by Adam Tihany, the building also includes 3 restaurants, bar, lounges, ballroom and meeting rooms, spa, salon, pool, cabanas, and fitness center.

A comprehensive environmental graphics and wayfinding sign program was developed that fully integrates all sign requirements with Mandarin Oriental traditions. The designers drew their inspiration from the 1920’s Shanghai Art Deco period, producing iconographic fabric-based patterns that were etched into bronze or stainless steel backgrounds for the majority of public signs.

This project received a LEED Gold certification from the U. S. Green Building Council.
