Overlooking the Hudson River and a short distance from the Statue of Liberty, Wall Street, and the New York Stock Exchange, the Conrad New York is a contemporary landmark located in the midst of thriving Lower Manhattan, catering to the area’s growing leisure and business traveler. The 463-suite, luxury hotel, designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates, is the first Conrad Hotel in New York City and features a stunning 16-story atrium lobby, views of the waterfront, a rooftop bar, fitness center, conference center, as well as an array of high-end retail shops and restaurants.
As part of this major renovation project, Poulin + Morris was responsible for the design of a comprehensive environmental graphics and wayfinding sign program for the property inspired by the building's modern context and strong architectural vocabulary. The main exterior identification signs are fabricated in stainless steel — when remotely illuminated, their dramatic, sculptural quality complements the highly reflective and transparent entrance to the hotel. The interior signs are fabricated primarily in glass and stainless steel, materials used throughout the hotel's interior architecture.
The success of this program was ensured through a strong design approach, as well as adherence to strict quality control standards, close coordination, and collaboration with the project architect, interior designer, lighting designer, and the Conrad New York project team.
