Duke University Hospital, one of the world’s leading health care providers, is a full-service tertiary and quaternary care hospital consisting of 924 inpatient beds and a regional emergency/trauma center. Cooper Robertson & Partners and Poulin + Morris were asked to expand and improve the main vehicular and pedestrian entrance to the Hospital by creating a new entrance scheme that is a seamless integration of architecture and graphic design.
The final result creates a cohesive and memorable visual identity for Duke University Hospital through the use of a unified materials palette, large-scale typography, and subtle halo illumination. The success of this project was ensured through a strong design and collaborative approach taken by the consultant team, and with the Duke University Hospital project team.
